Who is ELayne Stein?
Elayne Stein, member of AFTRA  (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) and SAG (Screen Actors' Guild), has devoted a major part of her life (forty years and counting) to offering essential services to the professional actor.  Elayne’s unique career has experience in film, radio, television, stage, lecturing, authoring and a host of other areas that are too numerous to mention.  Her professional acting and dialect training have been made use of by perhaps all of the best actors and actresses that this country possesses.

The huge number of individual testimonials of her expertise in coaching is living proof of her abilities.  Linda Waymire, well known director and owner of Matlin Studio for the Arts, in Glendale, Arizona, is a protege of Elayne Stein and credits Elayne's mentoring for much of her success.  "Elayne has taught me so much about this business.  More importantly, I find her insights about life in general to be enlightening and she has inspired me to branch out in ways I'd never dreamed of.  She is truly a gift to the artistic community...and she's "FUN'! " says Linda. Naturally, with so many years of experience in the acting and coaching field, Elayne has been able to develop and fine tune her teaching skills in order to make the learning experience fun for the student.

Elayne Stein’s film debuts involved her roles as ‘Mama Speigler’ in ‘I married Wyatt Earp’ (1983), as Mrs. Fineberg in ‘Mikey’ (1992), and as the ‘Phoenix Lady’ in ‘Transamerica’ (2005).

Elayne plays a major role in the acting arena of her home state, Arizona.  She serves on the Arizona board of directors of the SAG.  Elayne is also honored to be the first recipient of the Actors Alliance ‘Layne’ award which is awarded to individuals who have made major contributions to the entertainment industry in Arizona.  The Layne awards have been presented for the past three consecutive years.  Elayne is also an adjudicator for the ‘Arizoni’ awards which are vied for by outstanding stage actors in musical and drama productions in Phoenix.

Despite the busy schedule with her coaching work at her studio in Phoenix, Arizona, a love for kids and a deep sense of social responsibility made her, until recently, a long term volunteer for BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools).  Her weekly reading schedule involved approximately one hundred and fifty children in economically disadvantaged schools.

Elayne has been involved with the Arizona BookPALS program since its inception in ’98 and recently received an appreciation plaque in honor of her retirement from BookPALS.  However, she will still continue to read and entertain the kids that she loves so much, once a month in her many dialects and voices.
